The Clubhouse Network has been invited to participate in HundrED’s 2020 Innovation Summit, joining other innovators and education leaders around the world. Based in Helsinki, HundrED identifies impactful and scalable K12 innovations and helps them spread. Their annual Innovation Summit offers an opportunity for participants to meet the most impactful and inspiring innovators in K12 education from across the globe. For two years, HundrED has identified The Clubhouse Network as one of 100 top global innovators in education.
At the 2020 summit, entirely online from November 4-6 and free for all to attend, The Clubhouse Network will present a workshop as part of the Summit’s Community Track on Thursday, November 5 at 4 PM Eastern. We invite you to join!
Where Technology Meets Imagination: Kids, Creativity, and Community
The Clubhouse Network’s Executive Director Gail Breslow and Knowledge Manager Stephanie Rosario will describe the Clubhouse’s innovative learning model, offer practical insights into how others can adopt best practices from our experience, and brainstorm potential challenges that might stand in the way of meaningful youth engagement in creative learning. The event is open to all but especially relevant for educators, education administrators, and policy-makers.
For 25+ years The Clubhouse Network has provided youth in under-served communities with a safe place to explore their ideas, develop skills, and build self-confidence. The Clubhouse learning approach builds on research on the role of affect and motivation in learning, the importance of social context, and the interplay between individual and community development.
We will begin with a brief overview and video of a Clubhouse in action to bring the concepts to life. Then we will describe the Clubhouse learning model and design principles. We will then divide participants into breakout rooms to explore how these learning principles might be adopted in other educational settings, from classrooms to libraries. We will conclude with everyone sharing their ideas and reflecting on 2-3 specific next steps for introducing creative learning design principles into their own educational programs.
Thursday, November 5, at 4 PM ET | Registration is free but required.
The Clubhouse Network is also proud to share that our co-founder and current board member Mitchel Resnick will also be joining the summit, speaking on the topic of “Creativity in Education” on November 4. Learn more and register for the summit
