Statement Regarding Annual Conference and Coronavirus

Categorized: Press Release

UPDATE: Tuesday, March 10, 2020, 4:45 PM ET

The Clubhouse Network has made the difficult decision to cancel our Annual Conference scheduled for March 30 – April 1, 2020 in New Orleans due to concern about, and repercussions caused by, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Naturally, we are concerned about the health and well-being of our TCN community, and have been closely monitoring the situation over the last month. More recently, however, we have learned that many of our presenters, sponsors, and members will be unable to attend the conference, thereby undermining and frustrating the very purpose of the conference itself.

We recognize that the Annual Conference is a critical touchpoint for our community and appreciate that it annually enables us to build and strengthen the relationships and professional development that benefits each other and the youth we serve. This is our first time canceling this event in its history and we do not do so lightly. We are already considering how we may deliver some of the conference content online, though we know this is no substitute for the in-person experience.

We know that many members of our community are already dealing with this situation locally and hope that they and their loved ones are doing well. We also understand that many members of our community have already booked flights and made hotel reservations. Please contact the Westin Hotel Canal Place at +1 (504) 566-7006 to cancel your room reservation. There is no cancellation fee of any kind. Every airline has its own policies, and most are taking into account current global health concerns. We encourage you to contact them as soon as possible regarding the situation. We are scheduling the 2021 Annual Conference in New Orleans and will follow up next week with more information.

We know many members of our community have questions and concerns about the Teen Summit in July. We’re monitoring the situation closely and will be in contact soon.

We thank our community for their patience, understanding, and commitment to their youth.
